East 59 Café opens on Library Plaza

By Patricia Guarino

The Hoover Public Library is excited to welcome East 59 Café to the Library Plaza. East 59 Café opened their first location in East Lake in 2013. Currently living in East Lake, Anna Brown and Amber Tolbert and their families, are very excited about coming back to Hoover to partner with the library. Anna and Amber are both graduates of Spain Park High School.

The East 59 Café on the Library Plaza opened for business on Sunday, October 16. The Library and East 59 Café invites the public to the grand opening celebration planned for Thursday, November 3 from 4:30 p.m. until 6:30 p.m. There will be free samples and door prizes offered by East 59 Café. The library will be providing music by Farris, York & Sledge, a jazz trio from Muscle Shoals, featuring Bryan Farris (guitar), Micah York (drums) and Kevin Sledge (bass).

Their menu features a variety of crafted coffee drinks, savory food options and sweets. They use coffee beans from Counter Culture Coffee, a North Carolina specialty roaster. All of their baristas are professionally trained by Counter Culture. The menu options offered at their Hoover location are similar to their East Lake location. Check out their menu at east59.net.

They offer a great breakfast menu along with a variety of coffee drinks, such as, regular cups of joe, lattes, espressos, cappuccinos, mochas, café au laits, iced coffees, pourover coffees, frappes, tea lattes and artisan teas. Other beverages include teas, sodas and smoothies. Their fresh fruit smoothie and peanut butter cup smoothie are crowd favorites. Their lunch and dinner menus consist of paninis, sandwiches, wraps, salads and soups. One of their most popular menu items is The Fifty-Niner which is a Thanksgiving inspired sandwich. Kids can enjoy a child size grilled cheese or turkey melt meal.

Their seasonal menu features a pumpkin pie latte, a salted caramel latte and a maple brown mocha.

Their hours of operation on the Plaza will be:

Monday – Thursday 9 a.m. – 7 p.m.

Friday 9 a.m. – 5 p.m.

Saturday 10 a.m. – 5 p.m.

Sunday 2 p.m. – 6 p.m.

Please plan to join the Hoover community in welcoming East 59 Café to the library at the grand opening celebration on November 3. The Hoover Library is thrilled to have a café business whose goals are similar to the library’s goals of providing a place where people can gather, collaborate and experience community!
