How We Met: We met through mutual friends our senior spring break of high school in 2013. Michael claims it was love at first sight, and I (Grace) put him the friend zone. We were both attending the University of Alabama in the fall, and only few weeks into the semester we started officially dating and have been together ever since.

The Proposal: The spread of COVID-19 in March of 2020 ruined Michael’s original big plans of having a proposal at Vulcan and a surprise party with all of our family and friends after. Instead of postponing, he couldn’t wait another day and surprised me in my old home in Nashville with an extremely sweet, intimate proposal with the two of us.

The Wedding Dress: The Monique Lhuiller gown from Ivory & White Boutique in Birmingham was exactly what I imagined and more when I found out it had a detachable train that really adds more fun and flair to the dress, which made it feel like more of my personality.

Favorite Moment: Both of our favorite moment from the wedding was our first dance. We could not stop smiling and were so excited to finally be married after seven years together. We danced to “Can’t Take My Eyes Off of You” by Frankie Vallie, and all of our guests sang along with us. It was an unforgettable moment!

Favorite Details: I walked down the aisle to the Cahaba String Quartet’s beautiful rendition of “Here Comes the Sun,” one of my favorite songs since I was a kid. Michael’s favorite part was the double doozie cookies that we had in place of a traditional groom’s cake.

What We Are Doing Now: We are living happily in our new Crestwood house with our dog, Honey and enjoying the newlywed life!
